Women in Business Networking
Alexis is a passionate supporter of women in business networking and has helped to found two of the biggest networking groups in the west country.
Plymouth Women in Business Networking was launched in January 2016 and from the first meeting was a sell-out, attracting 120 businesses and helping thousands to connect.
With her co-founder Claire Geraghty of Barclays Bank, Alexis shares the philosophy that helping individuals grow helps to grow the whole economy. The networking they drive is free and without any financial agenda.
Their Facebook page regularly gets 12,500 hits a week and their Twitter account has almost 2,500 followers. In the past 18 months thousands of businesses have been linked up by the group which offers free peer-to-peer support, networking, inspirational speakers and informal mentoring.
They meet on the first Monday of every month at The Treasury Bar in Plymouth between 12:30pm and 2pm and every month has an inspirational speaker sharing their story.
Due to the astonishing and enormous success of Plymouth Women in Business Networking, Exeter Women in Business Networking was launched in September 2017.
It had more than 100 attendees at the first event at The Terrace bar in the city centre and will continue to meet there on the first Wednesday of every month between 12:30pm to 2pm. They too also have an inspirational speaker every month.
Alongside the women in business networking groups in Plymouth and Exeter that Alexis has helped to co-found with Barclays Bank’s Claire Geraghty, the Venus Awards have been going from strength to strength in the region.
They are the only women in business awards in the west country and have reached thousands and thousands of businesswoman, celebrating and recognising their achievements.
In 2017, for the first time, the Venus Awards will incorporate Cornwall as well as Devon, reaching thousands more and inviting them to be part of the biggest women in business network in the region.
